Co-op Services Credit Union Announces 2004 Scholarship Winners
Livonia, MI(Mar. 17, 2004) – Co-op Services Credit Union recently announced the winners of five college scholarships awarded annually to graduating high school seniors (’04) who are also credit union members.
Co-op Services Credit Union, headquartered in Livonia, has donated a total of $70,000 since its scholarship program began in 1995.
Scholarships are awarded in levels from $500 for one year and up to $4,000 for four years. Students who receive renewable scholarships are required to maintain academic standards.
Scholarship winners and their families were recognized at Co-op Services Credit Union’s annual meeting in early March. “Each scholarship is named for a pioneer in our credit union’s 49-year history,” said Michael A. O’Hehir, chairman of the credit union’s volunteer board of directors. “This scholarship program is one of many ways in which Co-op Services Credit Union contributes to deserving individuals and organizations in our local communities.”
Receiving the $4,000 renewable Al Williams Scholarship is Sarah LaFond of Salem Township (Redford Union High School). Winners of the $1,000 Mark Stroebel and Margaret Kremer-Hehman Scholarships are Christopher Mark of Westland (John Glenn High School) and Alexandra Caya of West Bloomfield (Walled Lake Central High School). Alexandra Volker of Wixom (Walled Lake Western High School) and Shaelyn Schneider of Livonia (Livonia Stevenson High School) will receive the $500 William Allen and James Cullimore Scholarships.
