Community Federal Announces 2002 Scholarship Winners
MI (May 22, 2002) Community Federal Credit Union
recently announced the winners of its annual scholarship program.
The Community Federal Credit Union Scholarship Fund, an affiliate
of the credit union, has provided a total of more than $40,000 over
the past 14 years.
winners were selected from a total of 29 applications from eligible
students who are Community Federal members and who will use the
funds to attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
Federal Scholarship Fund Board Chair Roger Ballard said, "These
scholarships provide an excellent way to share the credit union
philosophy of people helping people." The credit
union has two scholarship fundsone in honor of Margaret Dunning,
a longtime credit union volunteer, and another to honor the memory
of George Lawton, the credit unions general manager of 29
of this years Margaret Dunning scholarships are Audrie Lin,
Northville, Northville High School; Michael McDonald, Plymouth,
Plymouth Salem High School; Keith Lukasik, Plymouth, Detroit Catholic
Central; Amber Navarra, Atlanta, Atlanta High School; and Nicolle
Kownacki, Plymouth, Georgetown University sophomore.
Business Partnership Coordinator Natalie McLaughlin said, "This
year, a total of $5,000 will be presented by our Scholarship Fund
committee members at each winners school honors program."
